We’re looking for a high-capacity operational leader who thrives on accountability, enjoys building systems, developing people, solving problems, and driving projects to successful completion.

This is not simply a production management role—it’s a key executive leadership position with a seat on our EOS Leadership Team. You’ll work directly with Owner/Visionary Jimmy McKinney and Integrator Jeffrey Weneck to help lead the future growth of J&R Construction.

Position Summary

The Director of Production is responsible for the successful execution of all production operations after a project moves from design into construction.

This leader is ultimately accountable for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the high-quality standards J&R Construction is known for.

This position is also responsible for estimating accuracy, subcontractor development, production systems, project management coaching, quality control, and continuous improvement across the Production Department.

As the department grows, this individual will build, mentor, and lead the production team while creating the systems that allow J&R Construction to scale successfully.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Production Department.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Project Managers.
  • Recruit, Vet, Hire, and build relationships with quality subcontractors and trade partners.
  • Develop and maintain a preferred vendor and subcontractor network.
  • Review estimates before proposals are presented to clients.
  • Validate labor budgets and production schedules.
  • Improve estimating accuracy and reduce budget slippage.
  • Develop estimating standards and historical cost databases.
  • Create and improve production SOPs and playbooks.
  • Standardize project execution across all Project Managers.
  • Perform routine jobsite quality control inspections.
  • Solve production bottlenecks and field issues.
  • Lead production planning meetings.
  • Assist with scheduling and resource planning.
  • Review change orders and production impacts.
  • Work alongside the Integrator to improve production systems.
  • Develop training materials and production documentation.
  • Utilize JobTread to improve production management and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Design Department to improve project handoffs.
  • Help implement EOS throughout the Production Department.
  • Personally manage larger, more complex remodeling projects as needed to ensure successful execution and provide leadership in the field.

Accountability

This position has overall responsibility for the Production Department.

Primary scorecard responsibilities include:

  • Projects completed on time.
  • Projects completed within budget.
  • Estimating accuracy and budget performance.
  • Production gross profit performance.
  • Schedule adherence.
  • Quality control standards.
  • Warranty reduction.
  • Client satisfaction during construction.
  • Project Manager development.
  • Subcontractor performance.
  • Production capacity planning.
  • Continuous improvement of production systems and SOPs.

This position is ultimately accountable for production performance across the company. Success will be measured by consistently delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and at the level of quality expected by J&R Construction clients.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of residential remodeling or construction management experience.
  • Extensive estimating experience.
  • Experience managing multiple Project Managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex remodeling projects.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction sequencing.
  • Excellent leadership and coaching ability.
  • Strong budgeting and financial awareness.
  • Ability to read plans and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with project management software (JobTread experience is a plus).
  • Proven ability to build systems and improve processes.
  • EOS experience is a plus but not required.

Compensation

Base Salary: $80,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a significant performance-based bonus program tied to key operational metrics, including project delivery, estimating accuracy, production performance, and overall department results.
