Project Overview
In the kitchen, the goal was to open up the kitchen to the entry, and update the layout to be more functional and timeless. By removing the wall between the kitchen and the back door, we could create a larger island and a better flow when entering the house. This also allows easier access to the dining room from the kitchen. We took cabinets all the way to the ceiling in order to increase storage space and added a touch of flair with quartzite countertops with a chunky mitered edge and waterfall sides on the island. Gold accents in the kitchen faucet and hardware highlight the gold tones in the countertops.
In the bathroom, the goal was to modernize the space and match the feel of the kitchen with contemporary selections. We made the bathroom feel larger by removing the built in shower unit, the two walls on either side of the tub, and the toilet closet. We still created separation around the tub by building half walls for the plumbing fixtures. We matched the style of the cabinets back to the kitchen to create cohesion in the house. We installed heated tile floors to top it off and this primary bathroom is ready for relaxation!
